Description

Eddy Arnold's earliest recordings are among the greatest and rarest recordings in modern country music. Between 1944 and 1950, Eddy Arnold established an entirely new style of country music that bridged the traditional sounds he'd heard growing up with his love of pop. From the outset, he was astonishingly successful, racking up more than 35 hits during his first six years as a recording artist. Frequently re-recorded, many of those early hits are not only available here in their original versions for the first time on CD, but many are making their first appearance on any long-playing record. All-time Eddy Arnold favourites include It's A Sin, I Couldn't Believe It Was True, I'll Hold You In My Heart, Anytime, Bouquet Of Roses, Texarkana Baby, Just A Little Lovin' (Will Go A Long Way), Don't Rob Another Man's Castle, I'm Throwing Rice, Take Me In Your Arms And Hold Me, and Cuddle Buggin' Baby. The set also includes Eddy's rare early versions of Cattle Call from 1944 and 1949, as well as versions of several other songs that were actually re-recorded while the song was on the charts. Altogether, there are 120 songs on 5 CDs, plus a newly researched book on Eddy's career by Michael Streissguth and many rare and previously unpublished photographs.
