Impressed that for a mid-price starter guitar, this seems so well-built, nicely finished, with such low action, without buzzing. This guitar will inform a student what a good guitar should look and feel like, and enhance their ability to learn easily. It is also fairly lightweight, which can be good!I would recommend this guitar for a beginner or a more experienced player on a budget, because the low action and the medium/light strings are easy on the fingers, and the low action and responsive strings enable you to play faster and more adroitly. After unpacking and tuning, (the strings were new and slack) I played it. Tuning it with my electronic piano and knocking off some scales, I left it for half an hour to find that it was only slightly out of tune -- a good sign for a new guitar! The next day it needed only typical minor adjustments to get back in tune. Very good!As I played it the first night, I noticed going into a reverie after about fifteen minutes, forgetting where I was, what I was playing or on what guitar. A very good sign!Next day, testing it against other guitars I have, I noticed that there is a bit of buzz or bang when stroking it hard, particularly when not fretting properly (not surprising for the low action), though it is well-mannered with light and moderate strokes. Nevertheless, this can properly be addressed easily by adjusting the truss rod with the included wrench, which I easily did. While the tone sounded pretty good, and had a surprisingly responsive resonance (another good sign of competent luthier skills in designing and building) and was really fun for me to play, I think there might be better values for this price, but you would have to shop hard to find them,I can see why it got a few lower reviews, because you can see where they cut corners to give a better price, the hardware and the pick-guard for instance, but ....! You have to look carefully to fault this guitar, because it is really serviceable for the price.I got a Stagg for sentimental reasons, because I had one when younger. This SW201RDS has lower action! I am more discerning now than in my youth, but I wish I had been given a guitar like this with such responsive strings, low action and resonance when I started at age 18! For the price I paid through Amazon Warehouse Deals, I should have given it ten stars![Disclaimer: I have been playing guitar almost every day now for more than ten years (thumb-picking blues, pop, bebop and traditional), reading music and playing by ear, and have owned more than twelve guitars since starting as a teenager decades ago, having played two electrics, seven acoustic steel strings, and a couple of nylon-string classical's during that time. I also play flute and piano, and have for years.]I can't believe, how fantastic this guitar sounds, after a few minor adjustments. That's that's the only reason, I didn't give it a 5 star rating. Because I tuned it right after I got out the box, and the next morning 4 strings were broken. And there are a few places where you can see glue, but I bought this guitar for a backup guitar. And for what I paid for it I am overjoyed in the sound of this guitar. Thanks AmazonFor the price, this is a "good enough" beginner guitar. If you can already play some, then I would suggest getting a better guitar.Works perfectly for what it is intended for , playing guitar! So, I've had this guitar for a few years now. I got the blue one, because it's my favorite color, so I thought it would be cool to have a blue guitar. But, it ended up having the opposite effect, now years later when I look at it, I just think it looks like a kids' toy guitar. The action is really high, and that is after I had a professional set up done on it. What that means, is a lot of unnecessary finger pain. The lower the action, the easier it is to play, and the less a toll it takes on your fingers(talking to those of you that don't already know that). There are a lot of guitars that I've found in the same price range, with much better sound quality, and with much lower action. It's not a bad guitar, just shop around and play a variety of guitars first before you buy this one, and you'll see what I'm talking about.Great guitar for the price! Finish is nice and guitar is well constructed! Stays in tune!
