Description

Back in the good ol’ days, it was a popular practice to send a bass guitar signal to a bass amp and a guitar amp at the same time – known as Bi-Amping. This allows the player to keep their low end deep, clean and defined whilst amplifying the mids and top end separately, adding distortion or crisp highs with total control. This type of setup can produce some enormous tones but typically requires a huge and complicated rig, only possible if you’re Rock ‘n’ Roll royalty. But, if you have to get all this together by yourself? Forget it! Enter the Bass Butler.

Features

Splitting your signal at the input, the Bass Butler features two completely separate, parallel, analogue signal chains, just like a real bi-amp rig

Bass guitar (clean) XLR balanced output with bass guitar cabinet simulator

Guitar (dirty) XLR balanced output with lead guitar cabinet simulator

Blended ¼” jack socket output with no cabinet simulator

    Expression ¼” jack socket

Ok, so the pedal is expensive when compared to many, but not when you look at everything that's included, particularly when it works so flawlessly. Switching is dead silent, build quality is outstanding, and the distortion channel has so much gain you can create endless feedback noise if you really want to. Great for any variety of metal or rock tones thanks to independent gain and volume for distortion. Two pieces of cautionary advice:1 - I've only been able to get good sounds when running the pedal first in my chain in front of my amp, or as a replacement for the amp's preamp. The distortion gets squashed trying to run the pedal in the effects loop or with another effect first. Using EQ to tighten up the sound after the pedal, however, works perfectly.2 - The power supply is unique, and has a larger barrel on the cable than normal - 2.5mm compared to 2.1mm - so you'll likely need a converter to use with a different supply. It's rated 18v @ 1 amp, so a lot of power supplies for running multiple effects are underpowered and won't work for it, anyway.
